Whilst no one can deny we live in a digital age, there is still a huge reliance on physical paperwork, particularly for important documents—exactly the ones a responsible person should safeguard.
The shift to a paperless society is unlikely to happen anytime soon. Meanwhile, banks, insurers, lenders, and government bodies will continue to send out letters. Missing one of these letters can be catastrophic. This gentleman once had a mortgage, which finished about 22 years prior. Added together, our loyal client woke to an email from the post team with a much-needed cheque totalling well into five figures. The client had nearly forgotten about this mortgage—it was decades ago. Had a post collection team not been in place, the address the provider had would have lapsed many years earlier. That one cheque would pay for a lifetime of the nominal collection fees.
Another customer told us about a pension they discovered a relative had taken out in 1972. The relative had died around 16 years before, quite suddenly, and a proper handover of financial affairs hadn’t occurred. Through government records, the provider traced this individual and wrote to the client. After some back-and-forth, the policy was cashed in, yielding a five-figure sum. Without the post centre, this would not have been possible.
